Privacy Policy
Who we are
Would We is a group compatibility quiz at wouldwe.app. You answer a short quiz, share one link, and see how your group stacks up. This policy covers everything that happens when you use the site.
What we collect
Quiz responses and group sessions
When you take the quiz, your answers are saved anonymously. We generate a random ID and store it in your browser's localStorage — it's not linked to your name, email, or any account. When you join a group, your responses are associated with that group's session to compute a result. Outside that group, nothing connects your answers to you.
An optional display name
When you join a group, you can enter a name so other members know who's who. This is optional. If you skip it, you're just “a member.” We don't verify names or use them for anything beyond showing them in your group's result.
An optional email address
If you ask us to email you a copy of your result, or if you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address. We only do this when you explicitly opt in — no pre-ticked checkboxes. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Session recordings
We use Microsoft Clarity to record anonymized session activity — clicks, scroll depth, where people get stuck. Clarity masks any text you type before it's recorded. We use this to understand how the product is working, not to track individuals.
Traffic data
Vercel Analytics tells us how many people visited, which pages, and roughly where they came from. This data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally.
Email delivery metadata
When we send you an email, Resend — our email provider — logs delivery status (sent, bounced, opened). We use this to make sure emails are working. We don't sell or share this data.
Why we collect it
- →To run the quiz. Storing your responses is necessary to compute a group result. Without it, the product doesn't work.
- →To send emails you asked for. If you opted into a result copy or updates, we need your email to send them.
- →To improve the product. Session recordings and traffic data help us understand what's working and what isn't.
Legal basis
GDPRIf you're in the EU or UK, here's the legal basis for each type of data we process:
What we don't collect
- —Your real name (unless you voluntarily enter a display name)
- —Payment information of any kind
- —Location data beyond approximate country, via Vercel Analytics
- —Data from other websites or apps
- —Anything through advertising networks or tracking pixels
Third-party processors
We work with a small number of services to run the product. Each has its own privacy practices.
We don't sell your data to any of these parties or to anyone else.
Your rights
GDPRIf you're in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- →Access. Ask what data we hold about you.
- →Deletion. Ask us to delete your data.
- →Rectification. Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- →Objection. Object to how we're using your data.
- →Portability. Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.
Because quiz responses aren't linked to identifying information by default, we may not be able to find a specific anonymous session without additional context from you — like a group link or session ID.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@wouldwe.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies and browser storage
localStorage. We store a randomly generated user ID in your browser's localStorage to associate your quiz session with your group. This ID isn't linked to your identity. Clearing your browser's localStorage removes it.
Microsoft Clarity cookies. Clarity sets first-party session cookies for its recordings. There are no third-party advertising cookies on this site.
No advertising cookies. We don't use Google Ads, Meta Pixel, or any advertising network. Nothing here is tracking you across other sites.
Data retention
Quiz responses are kept as long as the product exists, since they're anonymous and don't identify you personally. If you want a specific session deleted, email us with your group link or session ID and we'll remove it.
Email addresses. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from active sends within 48 hours and delete your email address within 90 days.
Session recordings are retained per Microsoft Clarity's own policy (currently 13 months). We don't control Clarity's retention schedule.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes that affect how we use email addresses or other identifying data, we'll send a notice to people who opted into emails.
